Lanús Vision 2030

Memory

Lanús Vision 2030 is a work based on the analysis, diagnosis and guidelines of the Lanús 2030 Strategic Plan Coordination Unit (UPCEL 2030). It focuses on exploring and proposing ideas for the urban and physical environmental challenges in the Municipality well into the 21st century. It serves as a trigger for ideas, discussions, and objectives. It is also a work input whose scope will help shape strategies for a future plan. It offers a vision for the city of Lanús looking to the future.

The analyses, contributions, opinions and suggestions were collected through various sources: information from the participatory workshops developed by the UCPEL, consultations and surveys, data from the Municipal secretariats, work from the Lanús Architects' Hall, etc. All of them were voices that helped us understand complex situations and identify possible solutions. In all cases, the voices were clear: we must take urgent measures to improve the quality of life of future generations.

Vision Lanús 2030 incorporates environmental issues to try to change a history in which little has been done before. We choose a path to develop the lives of residents in a healthier and more humane environment, identifying what is valuable and strengthening urban opportunities that help them take ownership of the city as if it were their own home.

The publication is organised into five chapters: Green Lanús, identity and heritage, zero barriers, centralities and neighbourhood development and Lanús in the 21st century. Topics such as territorial planning; centralities; the generic city and the qualification of places; the understanding of landscape units and environmental corridors; disarticulation and lack of balance; isolation; the arid and completely built-up Lanús; the forgotten Lanús are discussed.

The vision developed in this publication may be described as incomplete, biased, coherent, interesting, partial or utopian. It may be all of these and more; it will have as many adjectives as it has readers.

Lanús Vision 2030 has been created with the aim of modifying the living conditions to transform our City, interpreting and consolidating the past, articulating the present, and incorporating the talent of its residents to grow and improve, with an eye on the future.
