Memory

The project is located in the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, in the province of Chubut, Patagonia Argentina.

Comodoro Rivadavia is a coastal city created by the oil exploitation of the area and its possibilities as an overseas port. Its climate is cold, windy and humid with little rain and snow.

The park is conceived as an adaptation of natural geomorphology to the use and needs of a contemporary space.

The layout of paths and trails following existing ones created spontaneously by people, determine shapes with wide curves containing spaces sheltered from the wind and with good sunlight.

The building is located in the highest part of the park and closest to the city centre. In its access area, an esplanade is planned as a civic plaza. It has a double circulation, one public and one private, as required by the program.

The building is compact and has good sunlight exposure due to climatic reasons, and public spaces are given priority by locating them on the sunny façade.

The image of the building communicates ideas of democratic equity, efficiency, severity and austerity appropriate to public power.
