House in the mountains
Memory
The house is located in a clearing in the forest, next to a row of cohihues on the shores of Lake Lacar. The slope and unevenness of the terrain were used to create a terrace of several trays, which are connected by a large staircase that follows the slope.
The resulting land modeling is covered by a sloping roof that, like a large shed, generates a fluid and dynamic space, only interrupted by the compartmentalization of the bedrooms.
This enveloping plane stands out against a backdrop of vegetation during the day and only lets in a few strips of light at night, thus constituting the only important façade of the house.
They have recreated their own mountain experiences:
-Relationship with uneven terrain. Experience of uneven ground.
-The idea of cave and continuous space.
-The fire corner as a space for gathering
-The framing of the visuals as a way of appropriating the landscape.
Access is via a dip in the ground. Upon entering, the grand staircase invites you to a processional journey with views towards the lake through the light gap between the roof and the lateral retaining wall. The journey culminates in the fire corner.
