Access to Alto Avellaneda shopping center
Memory
The project proposes an improvement of vehicular and pedestrian circulation at the main entrance and at one of the secondary entrances of the Alto Avellaneda shopping center.
Interventions relating to traffic and the character of the complex have been carried out in order to correct some circulation problems and to prioritise access:
Some of these interventions are:
• Incorporation of a central flower bed with existing plants and masts that structures and organizes the whole. This is in turn a growth or deformation of the new interlocking flooring that, like a carpet, integrates and homogenizes the access.
Both the central flowerbed and the interlocking flooring have a linear and punctual lighting system respectively that emphasize or highlight the directionality of the former and the division between vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the latter.
• Incorporation of tensioned covers over the vehicular access barriers. These create an intermediate-scale space in the 90-meter route from the street to the shopping center entrance. In turn, the new position of the barriers in the middle of this route improves the entry and exit of vehicles.
• Design of two prototypes of tensioned cover modules for car roofing.
One of the modules covers two cars located perpendicular to the access direction and also covers pedestrian access. The other is a module that covers four cars exclusively and is located in the second row. All these structures have LED lighting that will provide different colors according to the programming to be defined.
• Reorganization of existing parking lots, systematizing the signage of bays, designing height limiters and an exit indication system.
• Two more vehicle bays have been added to the secondary access to improve traffic flow.
