Access to Alto Palermo subway
Memory
The intervention highlights the tunnel that connects the subway with the Alto Palermo shopping mall entrance plaza.
The project will involve three interventions:
Cladding: Porcelain cladding has been installed on the floor and walls, in order to give continuity to the tunnel. It is dark to direct the eye towards the new signage. The existing metal ceiling has been painted in a colour similar to that of the floor and walls to maintain visual homogeneity. Lighter stripes have been added to reflect the light from the shelters.
Signage and lighting: A continuous and simple design was chosen: an extensive backlight with inclined metal and glass panels with silk-screened edges. It has small panels to display the shopping center's corporate image, large panels for advertising signage of standardized sizes and vertical strips with lighting with emergency equipment in case of power cuts.
Compliance with current regulations/signage: Handrails have been added to the steps, flooring for people with visual impairments, permanent grooving on the steps of the existing staircase and emergency lighting equipment.
